From the Tiles of Wat Ratchabophit Sathit Maha Simaram Ratchaworawihan…
From Temple Tiles to Artistic Innovation and Pantone Color Palettes
To the Creation of Applied Art and Pantone Color Prototypes for Product Design
To preserve and carry forward the cultural heritage of Wat Ratchabophit's unique tiles and color palettes, the research team studied their colors and patterns to develop a Pantone color database for applications in fashion, textiles, print media, and architectural design. This initiative records and transforms the temple’s color schemes into practical resources for other uses, such as community crafts and OTOP products, aligning with the national strategy to enhance competitiveness. The process involves systematic data collection in accordance with international standards, ensuring the sustainable preservation and continuation of Thai art and culture.
The exhibition showcases various products derived from these color palettes, such as ceramic plates featuring colors from Wat Ratchabophit tiles, pillowcases and scarves inspired by the temple’s color scheme, and a unique Pantone set based on the temple tiles—distinct from conventional Pantone colors you’ve seen before.
