Whispers of Colour: The Butterfly’s Secret
Nature’s Colour Code: Where Science Meets Art
“Whispers of Colour: The Butterfly’s Secret”
🦋 On October 21, 2024, the National Research Council of Thailand (NRCT), in collaboration with the Thai Art and Craft Development Association (TACDA) and the Museum of Natural History, Department of Biology, Faculty of Science, Chulalongkorn University, held the opening ceremony of the exhibition “Whispers of Colour: The Butterfly’s Secret” at the NRCT Art Gallery, Building 8. The exhibition aims to bridge scientific knowledge and artistic expression, fostering creativity that can be applied across various fields for future benefits.
🌷 This exhibition showcases the beauty of butterflies—creatures that embody the wonders of nature—focusing on the study of their vibrant wing colors, which result from light and color phenomena explained through scientific principles. Visitors will learn about the structure and function of natural coloration, alongside artistic interpretations that make scientific information more accessible and engaging. Additionally, the exhibition features demonstrations of butterfly taxidermy and photogrammetry techniques.
🌻 The event also presents artworks that integrate knowledge from both science and art, aiming to inspire visitors to innovate and develop new creative ideas. It highlights the potential of combining these disciplines to advance research, technology, and even commercial product design in a harmonious way.
The exhibition “Whispers of Colour: The Butterfly’s Secret” is now open at the NRCT Art Gallery. For more details, please visit the NRCT Facebook page. For inquiries, contact: Tel: 081-427-4998 (Pinpak, Coordinator)
